Nottingham Forest defender isolating after positive Covid-19 test

Nottingham Forest defender Mohamed Drager has tested positive for Covid-19 while on international duty.

The Reds right-back is away with Tunisia for the Africa Cup of Nations, but is currently isolating after contracting coronavirus.

He is one of six Tunisia players who returned positive tests prior to Sunday’s 1-0 win over Mauritania in Group F.

The official Facebook account of the national team posted on social media: “6 Coronavirus infections in the ranks of the national team

“In the framework of the round tests to prevent the infection of the coronavirus conducted by the African Football Federation, which is ahead of each match as per the rules of the championship, the tests conducted (on Friday) revealed the infection of both Naim Al-Seliti, Johan, Tuzgar, Osama Al-Hadadi and Mohamed Draqher and Dylan Bron Issam Al-Jabali and has been isolated from the group with coronavirus.

“We wish the players a speedy recovery and a speedy return to activity.”

Drager posted a picture on Instagram which seemed to show him watching the tournament on TV, saying he was in quarantine. He also wrote: "I have COVID."

It comes after the right-back had been diagnosed with “a sprained ankle” prior to the start of the competition.

He is yet to make his debut for the Reds, and could potentially be unavailable for selection until next month, with the Africa Cup of Nations running until February 6.

The 25-year-old had impressed for his country during their run in the FIFA Arab Cup in Qatar, but suffered an injury in the final against Algeria.

He was recently linked with Tunisian outfit Esperance Sportive de Tunis ahead of the January transfer window.

Tunisia are next due to be in action on Thursday, when they face Gambia.
