Nottingham Forest are showing an interest in Everton defender Mason Holgate during the January transfer window, according to reports.
Steve Cooper is keen to add to his squad in the winter window as he looks to lead his side away from the Premier League relegation zone in the second half of the season. And the Reds are keen to add to both ends of their team.
Forwards are a position being looked at, but Forest are also keen to strengthen their defence. According to Sky Sports’ Rob Dorsett , they are ‘considering’ Holgate as one of a number of defensive options in January.

The 26-year-old has not made a Premier League appearance for Frank Lampard’s side since August. After starting the first four games of the campaign, a knee injury saw him lose his place in the team.
Holgate has since had to settle for a place on the bench, although he has not even been included in the matchday squad for two of the last five games, including the midweek Premier League defeat by Brighton.
It means that Everton may be willing to cash in on the defender in January, with Forest possibly making a move. The defender has played a total of 135 times for the Toffees since making his debut in 2016.
It’s not just incomings that could make the month busy for Forest, though. They are also said to be keen to offload players in order to make room for potential incomings. Loic Bade has already returned to Rennes after his loan deal was cut short.
The report adds that Forest ‘may have to offload fringe players’ before making additions. Other players such as Emmanuel Dennis have also been linked with City Ground exits. Cooper, however, has dismissed reports over the striker’s future .
