Nottingham Forest confident of Eddie Nketiah deal after positive talks with Arsenal

Arsenal and Nottingham Forest have held positive talks over a deal for Eddie Nketiah.

The Gunners are ready to sell Nketiah this summer and he has caught the eye of a number of clubs.

Bournemouth and Marseille were tracking him earlier on in the transfer window, but have since moved for other targets.

Forest are now the favourites to sign Nketiah and they have held constructive talks with Arsenal this week.

The Gunners have rejected an opening bid from Forest, which was worth £25million, and they are holding out for at least £30m.

There is optimism a deal can be done and Nketiah is open to the idea of moving to the City Ground, where he will get regular football at a Premier League club.

The striker slipped down the pecking order at Arsenal last season and he has not started a competitive game since New Year’s Eve.

At 25 years old, it is accepted that he needs to be playing regular and both he and Arsenal are ready to strike a deal for him to leave Emirates Stadium.

Forest want to sign a new striker before the transfer window closes and are also interested in Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez.

The Mexican has impressed since moving to the Netherlands and he scored 26 goals in all competitions last season.

The 23-year-old has carried that form on this season, scoring four goals in the opening three games of the campaign.
