Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper names his team to face Barnsley

Head coach Steve Cooper makes just one change to his starting XI for Nottingham Forest’s clash with Barnsley tonight.

The Reds are out to make it three league wins on the spin and close the gap on the top six when they face the Tykes in the rearranged match at the City Ground.

Goals from Lewis Grabban and Brennan Johnson saw off arch-rivals Derby County, 2-1, in front of a full house on the banks of the Trent on Saturday.

And ahead of kick-off against the table’s bottom side this evening, Forest sit eighth in the Championship, just four points adrift of the play-off places.

Sheffield United loanee Max Lowe made his comeback from a two-month injury lay-off when he started against the Rams. But he is on the bench for the midweek fixture as the Reds look to ease him in gently, with Philip Zinckernagel coming into the side.

The Reds are without defender Joe Worrall for six weeks, due to broken ribs. They started with a back three at the weekend, before switching to a four-man defence with 20 minutes gone.

And it looks as though they are set to stick with the latter this evening. In Lowe’s absence, Jack Colback reverts to left-back, with Djed Spence on the right and the pairing of Scott McKenna and Steve Cook in front of goalkeeper Brice Samba.

Ryan Yates had started as part of the defence last time out, before moving into his more familiar midfield role as part of the tactical tweak.

He looks set to continue in the centre of the pitch against Barnsley, partnering James Garner.

Zinckernagel, meanwhile, will join Brennan Johnson and Keinan Davis in supporting front man Lewis Grabban.

Alongside Lowe, Ethan Horvath, Tobias Figueiredo, Joao Carvalho, Cafu, Xande Silva and Ateef Konate will be on the bench.

Forest: Samba, Spence, Cook, McKenna, Colback, Yates, Garner, Johnson, Zinckernagel, Davis, Grabban. Subs: Horvath, Figueiredo, Carvalho, Lowe, Cafu, Silva, Konate.
