Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper names first Reds team to play in Premier League in 23 years

Nottingham Forest head coach Steve Cooper has named his first Reds Premier League side against Newcastle United. It's the first top flight game for the Reds in 23 years, and Cooper will be hoping his side can hit the ground running away at St James' Park.

It's been 69 days since Forest beat Huddersfield 1-0 at Wembley in the Championship play-off final to secure promotion. And it's been an incredibly busy summer transfer window so far for the Reds, who have already signed 12 players, and some of those feature against Newcastle United.

Star signing Jesse Lingard makes his first start as a Forest player, as one of six new signings making their Forest debut. Dean Henderson starts in goal for Nottingham Forest, with new club captain Joe Worrall starting in the heart of defence alongside Scott McKenna and Moussa Niakhate as part of Cooper's tried and tested 3-4-1-2 formation.

Harry Toffolo and Neco Williams will start as the wing-backs. Lewis O'Brien and Jack Colback are the two central midfielders, with Jesse Lingard playing as the one behind the two strikers.

Sam Surridge and Brennan Johnson are the two forwards for Forest at St James' Park.
