Nottingham Forest boss reveals dilemma before Birmingham City win as promotion chances boosted

Good morning Nottingham Forest fans! Here are your latest Nottingham Forest headlines on the morning of Monday, April 11.

Steve Cooper's dilemma before Blues win

Boss Steve Cooper admitted he had a tough decision to make prior to Nottingham Forest's victory over Birmingham City.

The Welshman named an unchanged starting XI for the third game in a row. And he got the same end result, with the Reds making it nine points from nine since returning from the international break as they triumphed 2-0 at the City Ground.

Keinan Davis and Scott McKenna found the net against the Blues to make it a perfect week for Forest. The result made it 10 league games unbeaten and saw the club climb to third in the Championship table.

The 'incredible' signing who has boosted promotion chances

Nottingham Forest have been praised for the "incredible" signing of Keinan Davis as he scored his fifth goal of the season to help the Reds beat Birmingham City 2-0 on Saturday.

Davis scored after just five minutes as he concluded a powerful run down the left wing with a fiercely struck driven show past Neil Etheridge from a tight angle. The on-loan striker proved to be a constant thorn in Blues' side winning 50% of his aerial duels, 67% of his ground duels, had three shots on-target and a pass accuracy rate of 75%.

EFL pundit George Elek praised boss Steve Cooper for the signing of Davis with the on-loan striker's goals helping Forest mount a promotion push in the Championship. Speaking on the EFL on Quest highlights show, Elek said: “Keinan Davis has been an incredible signing this January. He is so direct and good with the ball at his feet. He can drive past players and he’s got a finishing touch as well.

"Better team"

Birmingham City midfielder Taylor Richards believes Blues were the better team against Nottingham Forest despite being beaten 2-0 at the City Ground.

Keinan Davis opened the scoring on five minutes as Forest dominated the opening half-hour. Blues grew into the game as time wore on but could not find a way past Brice Samba.

Scott McKenna headed a second for Forest past Connal Trueman - who replaced the injured Neil Etheridge on the hour-mark - to secure all three points. The victory lifts Steve Cooper's side to third in the Championship, six points behind second-placed Bournemouth.

Fans mock Blues claim

Nottingham Forest fans have hit back at Taylor Richards after the Birmingham City midfielder claimed the Reds had been second-best despite being Blues 2-0 at the City Ground.

Kienan Davis gave the hosts the lead on five minutes as Forest dominated the first half an hour against their Championship rivals. Kristian Pedersen, Scott Hogan, Nico Gordon and Richards all had chances to score but failed to find a way past Brice Samba as he kept consecutive clean sheets.

Scott McKenna ensured the three points would remain in the East Midlands with a powerful header past Connal Trueman - a replacement shot-stopper for Neil Etheridge who had to be carried off on a stretcher. Whilst Forest registered almost double Blues' number of shots (13-7), the visitors registered more shots on-target than Steve Cooper's side during the first half.
