Boss Steve Cooper insists he is “sure” in-demand Brennan Johnson will still be at Nottingham Forest by the end of the transfer window.
The 20-year-old is a wanted man as January heads towards its conclusion, with the Reds’ resolve being severely tested.
Brentford are believed to have upped their offer to such a significant sum that it would mean a record deal for both sides, while there is talk of Newcastle United being expected to make a bid.
And they are not the only teams interested. Johnson has no shortage of suitors, just as was the case in the summer after he returned from an impressive loan spell at Lincoln City.
Wallace latest
Nottingham Forest target Jed Wallace is making “positive progress” in his recovery from a quad injury.
Amid interest from the Reds - and with Monday’s transfer deadline fast approaching - boss Gary Rowett says the winger is still a doubt to feature in Millwall’s clash with West Bromwich Albion this weekend.
Wallace had returned to training just before the Lions hosted Forest little more than a week ago. However, he suffered a set-back in the build-up to that game and was not involved as Lewis Grabban clinched a 1-0 win for the visitors.
He is yet to make his comeback, having not made an appearance since December 11, when his team fell 2-1 at Peterborough United.
Midfielder link
Nottingham Forest have been linked with a move for versatile Turkish midfielder Ferdi Kadioglu.
The 22-year-old is currently with Super Lig side Fenerbahce but is reportedly eyeing up a move elsewhere as his contract comes to an end in the summer.
Reports in the Turkish media, including from Takvim and 90min, claim his agent has been invited to meet with the Reds and “will listen to the offer of the Championship team” as he considers whether to sign a pre-contract agreement.
It is suggested Kadioglu would prefer a switch to the Premier League but will “evaluate” his options as he weighs up his future.
Bid 'rejected'
Nottingham Forest are reported to have had a third bid rejected for Blackpool winger Josh Bowler.
The Reds have stepped up their pursuit of the 22-year-old as they chase attacking reinforcements before next Monday’s deadline.
Bowler and Millwall’s Jed Wallace remain top targets, with that interest heightened by Brentford upping their offer for Nigel Doughty Academy graduate Brennan Johnson.
According to our colleagues at LancsLive, however, Forest’s latest attempt to prise Bowler from the Seasiders is believed to have been turned down.
