Nottingham Forest's current squad costs are a drop in the ocean of total spending in the Championship, latest financial data has shown.
The huge gulf in finances available to clubs up and down the Championship has been highlighted by a tweet from football finance expert Kieran Maguire. A graph compiled using accounts shared by Championship football clubs showed the Reds' squad costs came to just £30.8m, a mere 2.6% of the £1,193m total spent by second tier outfits.
Fulham - whose promotion to the Premier League was confirmed this week - had total squad costs of around £233m, whilst second-placed Bournemouth are also runners-up in the financial spending table with £198.6m. These figures combined are more than a third of total spending by Championship clubs.

Blackpool have the lowest squad costs according to their latest accounts at just £1.4m. Relegated Derby County's squad costs come to around £62.5m, although the club have not published official company accounts for a number of years due to their financial problems.
Forest find themselves amid a fight to finish in the top six Championship spots this season, but when it comes to their finances they have been much more conservative and sit mid-table.
