Nottingham Forest fans have given their reaction to the news that Serge Aurier will be staying with the club beyond the summer.
The club have confirmed that an automatic one-year extension to the full-back’s deal has been triggered after Premier League safety was secured. Steve Cooper ’s men secured survival with one game of the season remaining.
Aurier joined the club on a free transfer last summer, after leaving Villarreal at the end of his contract. He had previously played in the Premier League with Tottenham between the years of 2017 and 2021.
He became a key player for Forest in the 2022/23 season. Injury saw him miss five games in April with Forest losing all but one of those matches. He returned as captain for the crucial 3-1 home win against Brighton and Hove Albion.

Aurier played a total of 28 times in all competitions, scoring once in the 1-1 home draw against Chelsea. He started all of Forest’s last six Premier League matches of the season, with the team losing just one of those games.
Following the news, Forest fans took to social media to give their reaction. Here’s what just some had to say.
Ash : A beautiful start to the day. #NFFC
Nick Briggs : good move this, drive and passion #nffc
Nicholas Eden : Great character and great footballer. Bags of experience and only 30 with a few good years left in him #nffc
Kieran : Serge Aurier was a bit of an underwhelming signing a first. Many (including me) wrote him off before he even kicked a ball for us. How wrong we were, and how important he was to us staying in the Premier League #NFFC
Michael Sahota : Serge staying on for another season is massive for many reasons #nffc
Charlie Taphouse : Top 3 players of our season, was so wrong about criticising the signing. Absolutely class player #NFFC
Jake Garratt : Thing you love to see. Seemed a pointless waste of time when we signed him. Couldn’t have been more wrong, he’s now so important to us #NFFC
Red Dog Macca : If this is a sign of things to come this summer I’m all for it #nffc
Mister Grimsdale : Really good news this. The difference he made at full back was fantastic. He bought into the club big time and you could tell he loved the crowd getting behind him. Great stuff, more please admin #nffc
