Nottingham Forest Accuses VAR Of Bias In Recent Match

Nottingham Forest's Chris Wood, left, celebrates scoring his side's first goal during the English Premier League soccer match between Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest at St. James' Park, Newcast

Nottingham Forest recently expressed their dissatisfaction with the officiating during their 2-0 loss to Everton, citing concerns that the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) may have had a bias due to being a Luton Town supporter. The club highlighted three potential penalty claims that were dismissed by referee Anthony Taylor and the VAR, prompting a social media post from Forest after the match.

The club's post on social media read, 'Three extremely poor decisions - three penalties not given - which we simply cannot accept. We warned the PGMOL that the VAR is a Luton fan before the game but they didn't change him. Our patience has been tested multiple times. NFFC will now consider its options.'

The Football Association (FA) has confirmed that they are investigating the tweet made by Nottingham Forest regarding the officiating concerns. The result of the match against Everton leaves Forest in 17th place in the Premier League, just one point above Luton Town in the relegation zone following a 4-1 defeat to Brentford.

Nottingham Forest's league position has been further compromised by a four-point deduction in March for breaching the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules. Despite appealing the deduction, the club finds itself in a precarious position in the league standings.
