A doctor who was involved in the care of a pregnant woman whose baby died 36 hours after birth has apologised to the grieving parents during inquest. Dr Priya Kanagaraj, a Locum Consultant Obstetrician with Nottingham University Hospitals Trust (NUH), said she was "sorry" while giving evidence as a witness on the second day of the inquest into the death of 2-day old Quinn Parker held on Wednesday (April 27) at Nottingham Council House.
After giving her account on what happened on July 14 when assessing Quinn's mum after an episode of heavy bleeding, Dr Kanagaraj answered questions. Barrister Cara Guthrie, representing parents Emmie Studencki and Ryan Parker, of Barrowby in Lincolnshire, went on and asked: "Do you think that you should have had a discussion with the parents about the options including having a C-section? You did not involve them in the decision-making."
Dr Kanagaraj explained that it is "not in [her] practice" not to involve the patients in the decision-making process. She added: "If I came across like that I am sorry."
