A second victim of the Nottingham attack which killed three has been named locally as 19-year-old Grace Kumar. The University of Nottingham student was a hockey player and is understood to be one of the two students tragically killed in Ilkeston Road on Tuesday, June 13, Nottinghamshire Live reports.
The other person killed in that incident is understood to be Barnaby Webber, also a 19-year-old student at the university. A man in his 50s was also killed in a separate but connected incident. A 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in custody. Read how the incident unfolded here.
Nottinghamshire Police declared a "major incident" on Tuesday closing down the tram network and many roads around Nottingham. In a press conference this evening police confirmed two of the victims were 19-year-old students who were found stabbed shortly after 4am. They said a man in his 50s was also found dead from knife injuries in Magdala Road, while police also attended reports a van had tried to run over three people, one of whom is in a critical condition in hospital.
Officers said they believed the suspect had stolen the vehicle then driven it at members of the public. A 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.
The University of Nottingham has confirmed that two of its students were among those killed in the incident, saying it was "shocked and devastated by the news."
