Nottingham City Council to sell popular Clifton pub

A popular Clifton pub is set to be sold by Nottingham City Council. The decision to sell the pub, the Fairham Hotel on Farnborough Road, came after the council reviewed a number of its own premises which could be considered for "disposal" to raise cash for the authority.

Nottingham City Council made the decision after concluding, in a growth and development committee meeting, that "no alternative operational, regeneration, community or other requirements" had been identified. The pub is close to the multi-million pound Fairham development, which will provide 3,000 homes when finished.

The thousands of homes will be brought forward in phases over a 10 to 15-year period. When fully built, the new neighbourhood will have one million square feet of employment space, a primary school, community and sports facilities and a neighbourhood centre.
