A restaurant in the city centre had to close after dust coming from the property next door made their smoke alarms go off. Two fire engines were called to King Street on Sunday afternoon, November 6.
The emergency service has now confirmed that the alarms were triggered by dust. The Zizzi restaurant had to close for some time and cancelled their bookings as the incident was being dealt with.
A spokesperson for the Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "The call came in at 13:28 with two crews from London Road mobilised. Upon arrival, it was discovered this was a false alarm caused by dust from workers in an adjoining property."

Shortly after the incident, Dace Prudnikova, assistant manager at Zizzi, said the ‘whole street was full of smoke’ when fire engines were called. The staff cancelled all the bookings, and closed the restaurant temporarily.
Ms Prudnikova said they expect to be able to open later today. Describing what happened, she added: “There was a lot of smoke coming into the restaurant. It made the alarms go off, so I called the fire brigade.
“It all happened just before midday. When the firefighters opened the door of Cubo next door, the whole street was full of smoke.”
But the so-called 'smoke' was actually dust, which came from the property next door. A man who was working inside Cubo, which is located next to Zizzi, told the Nottingham Post: “We were just cutting a wall, and basically it was a lot of dust. The dust went into the restaurant and made the alarms go off.”
