Nottingham City Council has announced some major road closures ahead of Nottingham Carnival 2022. Closures and diversions along the Victoria Embankment and Meadows areas have been confirmed for Sunday, August 21, as the city prepares for the event.
The diversion route will be along Queens Drive, Waterway Street, Sheriffs Way and London Road between 12-8pm. The council has stated that moderate delays are to be expected.
The spectacular Nottingham Carnival returns for the first time since 2019 after two years of postponement due to the pandemic. But it will return in style on Sunday with colourful costumes, music and cuisine showcasing the influence of Caribbean, Brazilian and African cultures.
The free parade will be the dazzling centrepiece of the carnival, following a circular route around the Victoria Embankment and The Meadows, starting at 2pm.
An update from Nottingham City Council read: "There will be road closures and diversions along the Victoria Embankment and The Meadows area. This will be in effect on Sunday 21st August 2022 between 12 noon and 8pm.
"The diversion route will be along Queens Drive, Waterway Street, Sheriffs Way and London Road."
