With the sun making more appearances, that still won’t stop many of us from popping the kettle on and what’s better than a cup of tea? A cup of tea with a view - and we know what much-loved park you can go to to walk around in the sun with a cuppa, coffee or something cool as Keimae Blake reports…
One of the best rated park cafes in Nottingham is the Arboretum Cafe. The popular park that gets packed in the summer is perfect for a picnic when the sun is shining.
The Arboretum Cafe on Waverley Street was packed when I arrived. Staff rushed around and customers waited, patiently, to be seated.
The inside of the cafe has touches of pink all around and decorative flowers hanging off the ceilings and walls - the interior alone deserves a 10/10. With many customers sitting outside having a chat and clutching on to their dogs, it was much quieter inside.
Queuing up to place my order, the staff deserved a medal; not only was the cafe packed, there were only two members of staff working! I ordered a sausage and bacon cob with hash browns - but they had run out of cobs which is fine, you should all know by now that I’m not fussy when it comes to food!
The member of staff serving me was very apologetic, saying ‘there are no cobs but I can put it all in a sandwich.’ Perfect.
Paying just £7.40 for a breakfast sandwich and a mocha, I sat down and read a bit of my book. If I had come to the cafe at lunch time, I think I would have ordered a cheesy jacket potato with salad and had one of the freshly baked cakes to takeaway.
When my food arrived, it smelt wonderful. I never have time in the morning to start cooking up a storm, I usually just have Weetabix and a bit of fruit.
Opening my sandwich to dollop brown sauce all over it, it was divine: crispy bits of bacon with well-cooked and golden hash browns with juicy breakfast sausages. 10/10.
So whether it’s an ice coffee to sip on whilst sitting under the sun on a picnic blanket or a drink much warmer, I highly recommend the Arboretum Cafe.
