It seems as though the entire country will come to a halt for the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II on Monday, September 19. The day of the monarch's burial has been made into a national bank holiday, meaning many of us will be off work.
Across the United Kingdom, shops, cinemas and attractions will shut their doors. This is no different in Nottingham.
Whilst some of its pubs, bars and restaurants will stay open, most of its major attractions will not be doing the same. This includes the likes of Nottingham Castle, the City of Caves, National Justice Museum, Motorpoint Arena and National Ice Centre.

So, with the kids off school for a day, options for days out will be limited. However, these few places will be staying open and could be worth a visit.
Wollaton Park
Nottingham's most famous park will be open as usual on Monday. Like all public parks across the city, the gates will remain open - and with the rain currently expected to hold off, it might not be such a bad idea.
Despite Wollaton Park staying open, the same cannot be said about most of its other facilities. Both Wollaton Hall and its shops will be closed to the public, but its cafes and toilets will stay open.
"Due to the bank holiday and in respect to Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral, Wollaton Hall and Deer Park will have a limited operation and facility closures," the website reads.
Savoy Cinema
Whilst many national cinema chains will be shut for the day of the funeral - with the exception of those that are broadcasting the event - Savoy Cinema in Lenton will be open for business.
Movie-goers can go and see new releases such as 'Bullet Train' (starring Brad Pitt), Jordan Peele's 'Nope' or one for the kids - 'Tad, the Lost Explorer and the Emerald Tablet'. For those in favour of a classic, Steven Spielberg's 1977 hit 'Close Encounters of the Third Kind' is also playing.
A screen will also be dedicated to streaming Queen Elizabeth II's funeral from 10.30am.
Victoria Centre
Despite many of its retailers choosing to close on Monday, Victoria Centre said it would remain open. The popular shopping centre will keep its doors ajar at its Milton Street and Glasshouse Street entrances due to a 'small number' of stores still trading.
If none of those take your fancy, I suppose it is a chance to roam around a deserted Victoria Centre. "On Monday 19 September, many of our retailers have taken the decision to close, to allow their teams to mark the funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II," the shopping centre states on its website.
"We encourage people to check with individual retailers directly on opening and closing times, before making a journey to the centre. The centre will be fully open as normal from 8am on Tuesday 20 September."
