Fledgling smartphone brand Nothing shook the Android market last year with an eye-catching device simply called the Phone (1). This low-cost call maker featured an impressive 6.55-inch display, decent dual-lens camera and something called a Glyph interface which glows when calls arrive or text messages are received.
Now it seems the firm, which was created by ex-OnePlus founder Carl Pei, is getting ready to unleash the Nothing Phone (2).
In an email sent to Mirror Online, the company confirmed, "London-based consumer technology brand Nothing has today announced Phone (2) will be released this summer."
Of course, there’s not yet an actual release date but with the summer just two months away there’s clearly not long left until we find out what’s in store for fans of these phones.
Although full specs are yet to be revealed there is one thing that we definitely do know about the Phone (2).
It was revealed in February at the Mobile World Congress showcase that Nothing will use the latest and greatest Snapdragon 8 Series processor and will be a more “premium” offering. The company’s second smartphone will also be available to purchase in the US for the first time.
These are big changes from the firm that pitched their first device as a more wallet-friendly option.
Now it seems Nothing is going after the top-end of the market and it could give Samsung something to think about as the Phone (2) is sure to be competitively priced.
With summer now confirmed as a release date, we can expect plenty more hints and teases in the coming weeks so, if your Android phone is due for an upgrade, watch this space.
Although the Nothing Phone (2) is still a few months away, there will be a big Android announcement a lot sooner.
Google is holding its annual I/O Developers Conference next week with the firm teasing that it will launch its hotly anticipated Pixel Fold during the showcase.
A short teaser video has even been released which gives fans a glimpse of this phone which opens like a book to reveal a tablet-style screen.
Full details should be revealed on Wednesday from 6pm.
