Neil Wood believes his Salford City side have nothing to lose when they take on Bolton Wanderers this evening in the Carabao Cup but is looking forward to the challenge.
The Whites take on the Ammies at the University of Bolton Stadium in the first round of the competition. It will be the first time the two sides have played since the 2020/21 season, where Wanderers came out on top in the two clashes in League Two.
A place in the second round up for grabs. The draw for this will take place on Wednesday evening after the conclusion of the televised game between Sunderland and Sheffield Wednesday.

It will see a League Two side in the form of Salford taking on a League One team in Bolton. Both sides are seeking to target promotion out of the respective divisions this season.
Wood knows his side have 'nothing to lose' when they take on a team from the division above them away from home. But he is hoping the Ammies can build upon the performances shown in their first two games of the League Two campaign when they travel to the University of Bolton Stadium.
Speaking to Salford's club website, Wood said: “We’re looking forward to it, it’s a big game, it’s a really hard game, a game that we have to be really prepared for because they’re a good team, they like to play some good football and they like to add some tactical tweaks in there. It’s going to be a challenge, it’s a challenge we’re looking forward to and we’ll go there fully prepped and see what we can get out of the game.
“We want to win every game, we go to win every game. It’s not always possible to win every game but I think it’s important that we set up and find ways to try and win.
“They’re a good team, they’re well set up and they’ve got some good footballers there so it’s not going to be easy by any stretch of the imagination. We’ve got nothing to lose but we’ve got to make sure we play how we think we can play and keep building on our performances from the last two games.”
