Not venturing into active politics, says industrialist DK Srinivas

TIRUPAT: DK Srinivas, industrialist and heir of former TTD trust board chairman DK Adikesavulu Naidu, made it clear that he is not venturing into active politics anytime soon.

In the midst of the Telugu Desam Party's 40th formation day celebrations, it was being speculated that DK Srinivas whose family holds considerable community hold in the temple city of Tirupati may be fielded from the prestigious Tirupati assembly segment in the 2024 general elections.

Responding to these speculations, Srinivas clarified that he has restricted himself to managing his family businesses ever since the demise of his father and mother and that he was not focusing his attention on politics right now.

Meanwhile, DK Srinivas made some interesting remarks about the TTD's Ananda Nilayam Anantha Swarnamayam project which was dropped by the richest Hindu temple body a few years ago.

"Gold plating the entire outer walls of the sacred Lord Venkateswara temple under the Ananda Nilayam Anantha Swarnamayam was mooted by the TTD during my father's tenure as the then chairman of the trust board. Scores of devotees donated several kgs of gold to the TTD following an appeal from my father. However that project was shelved later on and the gold donations received is thus lying idle in the TTD coffers. My father's goal of completing the Ananda Nilayam Anantha Swarnamayam project will always remain my top priority", he asserted.

The TTD trust board resolved to gold plate the sanctum sanctorum of the Tirumala temple by spending Rs 100 crore in 2008. The board received 94.809kg of gold and Rs 12.86 crore as donation from the devotees under the Ananda Nilayam-Anantha Swarnamayam project.

However, this project was shelved following the order of the Andhra Pradesh high court in 2010 and TTD framed guidelines to transfer or return the gold and cash deposits received under the scheme back to the donors in 2011.
