'Not the end' - Major Jude Bellingham admission made amid Liverpool transfer interest

Edin Terzic has admitted that Jude Bellingham is ‘quite possibly’ the best player in Borussia Dortmund’s history amid growing speculation that the midfielder is set to a huge summer move.

The 19-year-old had gone from strength to strength since joining the Bundesliga outfit from Birmingham in 2020, captaining his side for the last two games in the absence of Marco Reus. The most recent of which came in the 3-1 win at Sevilla, and Bellingham’s brilliant solo goal made him both the first English teenager to start a Champions League game as captain and the first teenage midfielder to score in three consecutive games in the competition.

Such performances look to have secured Bellingham's place at the top of Gareth Southgate’s team sheet, with the midfielder all but guaranteed to start alongside Declan Rice in Qatar. The Three Lions boss has recently praised the Dortmund star’s ‘top-level mentality’ , while Rice labelled him the ‘future of English football’ .

And Dortmund boss Terzic has gone one step further than either of Bellingham’s compatriots, admitting that he is ‘quite possibly’ the best player to ever wear the yellow of BVB - the German boss also claimed that there is still plenty to come before he reaches his ‘maximum’ potential.

‘Quite possibly because he's really playing a very consistent season so far,'' Terzic told the press when asked if Bellingham is the club’s best ever player. “We are very happy with the way he presents himself in training every day. He has already rewarded himself in the Champions League with three goals and that shows the shape he is already in. But that's not the end yet. There is still so much to achieve in his career and we hope we can help him achieve his maximum.’

That is high praise from a club that has seen the likes of Marco Reus, Robert Lewandowski and Matthias Sammer grace the turf at Westfalenstadion, but praise that has been vindicated by the teenager’s influence on the squad at such a young age.

Bellingham is already the hot topic of next summer’s transfer window, with Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester City all joining Liverpool in trying to sign the star. The Reds have been long-time admirers of the ex-Birmingham academy product but will face some stiff competition for his signature.
