NEW DELHI: With the 90m throw still eluding him, Olympic and world champion Neeraj Chopra on Friday said that he isn’t pleased with the distances he has covered with his javelin during this competition season after coming close to breaching the mark with a heave of 89.94m last year.
Though not overtly worried about the mark since his throws so far this season has brought him several title glories – except for a second-place finish behind Jakub Vadlejch at the Zurich Diamond League Thursday night – Neeraj acknowledged he could have done a little better had it not been for abductor muscle strain suffered during training in May. He later developed a cough and sore throat ahead of the qualification round at the Budapest World Championships, where he secured a historic gold with a throw of 88.17m.
