'Not for me' - Raheem Sterling Chelsea signing splits opinion amid Premier League title talk

Will Raheem Sterling plus a few others be enough for Chelsea to re-enter the Premier League title talk in 2022/23?

That question itself will be played out over the next year but it's easy to remember that up till December 2021, the Blues were very much in the title conversation. However, the a poor run meant that Man City and Liverpool pulled away from Thomas Tuchel's side with ease. A mixture of Covid and injury issues, especially to star full-back duo Reece James and Ben Chilwell coupled with a lack of clinical edge throughout the campaign in front of goal were really the downfalls of Chelsea in 2021/22.

The new campaign though provides much room for optimism. Alongside having new ownership in the form of Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital who look like keeping to their promise of delivering Tuchel a £200million plus war chest, Romelu Lukaku has already left following a disappointing year at Stamford Bridge. Raheem Sterling has entered the mix after his £47.5million move from Man City was announced while Kalidou Koulibaly is expected to be the next through the doors as he underwent successful medical checks in London ahead of his £34million switch being confirmed.
