Not even 0.1% samples testing positive for Covid now

NAGPUR: Vidarbha region is witnessing a never-before decline in Covid infection this week. Not even 0.1% of the samples tested in last 24 hours were found positive in the region.

Nagpur district reported zero Covid cases for the fourth consecutive day and Yavatmal for the seventh day in a row. Nearly 2,000 tests were conducted in Nagpur and all were negative. Wardha district reported two cases, while Chandrapur reported one, which means the Amravati division reported no new case on Tuesday.

Overall, only 0.06% of the 4,512 samples tested in last 24 hours were positive. This could be considered as a major indicator that the pandemic is now heading towards the endemic phase.

Vidarbha’s 11 districts together reported three recoveries and no deaths on Tuesday. Now, 12,60,184 out of 12,81,221 patients reported till date have recovered. The recovery rate is 98.35% — the highest in all three waves.

Only 66 patients are under treatment in the region, and 21 of them are in Nagpur district. Out of them, 11 are in Nagpur city. This means the entire city having close to 30 lakh population has only 11 active cases, and most of them are in home isolation.

Wardha: There were two new cases out of 265 test reports, taking the active cases to three on Tuesday. The caseload increased to 58,103 while total recoveries and toll remained unchanged at 57,137 and 1,351 respectively, as no recovery or death was reported in the district on Tuesday.

Chandrapur: One new case out of 539 tests and one recovery kept the active cases unchanged at two on Tuesday. The lone patient was detected in Chimur tehsil. There was no death reported during the day. The caseload inched up to 98,956, which include 97,387 recoveries and 1,567 deaths.

Yavatmal: The district reported neither any death nor any new positive patient during the last 24 hours, keeping the death toll unchanged at 1,803. Yavatmal thus maintained its no-Covid status for the seventh day running. There is no report of testing on Tuesday.

Amravati: No new case, no recovery and no death was reported in the district on Tuesday. The number of patients under treatment remained at four.
