Callum Wilson admits Alexander Isak has 'taken his opportunity' and is now prepared to fight to earn his starting spot back for Newcastle United. The Magpies' number nine watched from the bench as the record signing opened the scoring and delivered a star turn in the much-needed home win over Wolves on Sunday.
Eddie Howe made wholesale changes across the frontline, with Isak making only his third Premier League start since September. The Sweden international was joined by Jacob Murphy and Allan Saint-Maximin, with Miguel Almiron grabbing a late winner after being introduced from the bench.
Wilson was substituted on alongside the Paraguay international, having otherwise started all but two matches in 2023 so far. The former Bournemouth striker has struggled for form since earning a World Cup call-up, having scored once in his last 14 appearances in all competitions.
