OpenAI, the world's most valuable AI startup, has just lost another executive. Chief Technology Officer Mira Murati is one of more than 20 key staff who have departed this year, leaving CEO Sam Altman with just one of his fellow co-founders.
Altman said Murati's departure was "abrupt, in part because OpenAI is "not a normal company".
The startup, which makes ChatGPT, also wants to close a massive funding round of $6.5 billion, and is in talks to shift from a non-profit-led structure to a for-profit setup.
On this week's Tech 24, we discuss whether the exodus is a help or a hindrance for Altman's lofty ambitions, as competition from rival AI products heats up.
