Norwich City injury concern as boss 'little worried' over star after suspected bone break

Norwich City have been left sweating on the fitness of Cambuslang's Kenny McLean after the midfielder suffered a suspected broken toe.

The Scotland international was withdrawn after 73 minutes of their 3-2 English Premier League defeat to Manchester United on Saturday at Old Trafford with the injury.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored a Red Devils hat-trick that means despite Canaries goals through Kieran Dowell and Teemu Pukki, Dean Smith's side are seven points from safety with six games to go.

Fellow midfielders Pierre Lees-Melou and Kieran Dowell also suffered fitness concerns, but it's McLean who may have done bone damage.

It'll be a concern for Scotland head coach Steve Clarke with June's World Cup play-off matches against Ukraine and potentially Wales on the horizon.

He has already lost Cambuslang's Kevin Nisbet after a knee injury sustained on Hibs duty while Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney and Everton defender Nathan Patterson are also in races against time.

Smith told Norfolk Live : “McLean and Pierre (Lees-Melou) both had little knocks. I’m a little worried about Kenny, he looks like he may have broken his toe. But Pierre cramped up at the end so we were forced into changes.”

Norwich are next in action this Saturday at home to Newcastle United.
