Norwegian ski jumper Slje Opseth made history by setting a new women's world record with a remarkable 230.5 meter jump at a competition in Vikersund, Norway. The emotional moment was captured as Opseth realized her achievement, despite her face being bloodied and battered from a previous fall during a trial run.

The previous record of 226 meters was held by Ema Klinec of Slovenia, set at the same location last year. Opseth's record-breaking jump was met with overwhelming support and messages of congratulations from fans and fellow athletes.

Opseth, a seven-time World Cup winner, showed resilience and determination as she overcame the challenges of the day to secure her place in history. Despite the initial setback of a fall during a 236-meter trial jump, Opseth persevered and ultimately achieved her goal.

Having discovered her passion for ski jumping in 2010, Opseth has since made significant strides in her career, making her World Cup debut just five years later. She has proudly represented Norway at two Winter Olympic Games, in 2018 and 2022.

Following her record-breaking performance, Opseth finished second in the first-ever Women's Ski Flying World Cup, with her Norwegian teammate Eirin Maria Kvandal taking the top spot. Former world-record holder Ema Klinec of Slovenia claimed the third position in the competition.

Opseth's journey to success serves as an inspiration to aspiring athletes, showcasing the power of perseverance and dedication in the face of adversity. Her remarkable achievement will be remembered as a testament to the indomitable spirit of athletes in pursuit of excellence.
