Norwegian police have arrested Marius Borg Høiby, the 27-year-old son of Norway's Crown Princess, on suspicion of rape. Høiby, who was born before his mother Mette-Marit married Crown Prince Haakon in 2001, is accused of violating the criminal code related to sexual intercourse with someone who is unable to resist the act.
The alleged incident involved a woman in her 20s who reportedly did not know Høiby before the encounter. The victim's lawyer confirmed that the woman was not in a relationship with Høiby at the time of the incident.
Høiby was arrested late on Monday night and is currently being held in a detention center. His lawyer has stated that he denies the allegations brought against him.
According to reports, Høiby has been charged with various offenses against five different individuals, including four women and a man. Three of the women were reportedly in a relationship with Høiby, and he has been accused of abuse in those relationships.
Earlier in August, Høiby was charged with assault and criminal damage following a violent incident at an apartment in Oslo. This incident allegedly involved one of the women who has accused him of abuse.
Additionally, Høiby has been charged with threatening to kill a man in his 20s. His lawyer has stated that Høiby only admits guilt to specific charges related to bodily harm, criminal damage, and threats against his last girlfriend, but denies criminal guilt for other circumstances.
The Royal House of Norway has declined to comment on the allegations at this time.
