Norwegian police have confirmed the arrest of Marius Borg Høiby, the 27-year-old son of Norway's Crown Princess, on suspicion of rape. Høiby, who was born before his mother Mette-Marit married Crown Prince Haakon in 2001, is facing allegations related to sexual misconduct.
The specific charge against Høiby pertains to the criminal code concerning sexual acts with individuals who are unable to resist due to unconsciousness or other reasons. The alleged incident involved a woman in her 20s who reportedly met Høiby on the day of the occurrence and was not in a relationship with him.
Høiby was taken into custody late on Monday night and is currently being held in a detention center. His legal representative has stated that he denies the accusations brought against him.
According to reports, Høiby has been charged with offenses involving five different individuals, including four women and a man. Three of the women were reportedly in relationships with Høiby, with allegations of abuse within these relationships.
Earlier in August, Høiby faced charges of assault and criminal damage following a violent incident at an apartment in Oslo, allegedly involving one of the women associated with him. Additionally, he has been accused of threatening to kill a man in his 20s.
The Royal House of Norway and Høiby's legal counsel have been contacted for comments on the ongoing allegations. The case continues to develop as authorities investigate the claims against the Crown Princess's son.
