For many couples, cutting into a wedding cake reveals layers of fruit, sponge or chocolate.
However, for one Northumberland bride and groom who don't have such a sweet tooth, cutting into their wedding cake revealed layers of pork, chorizo and black pudding.
Jade and Andrew Patterson chose a three-tier pork pie wedding cake from their local butchers for their big day - which was still warm in the middle long after their first dance!

The cake, which was supplied by Turnbull's of Alnwick, had a base layer of a traditional pork pie, with chorizo in the middle, and then black pudding and chorizo on top.
Jade said: "We actually love pork pies and we chose Turnbull's because its our local butchers and we just love them."
"We’ve been to quite a few weddings before and we never really remember getting the cake passed around. We’re not really into sweet stuff so we thought it best to try and get a pork pie cake.
"We got so many reports on it from our guests. They loved it!"
Podiatrist Jade and Plasterer Andrew got married on Newton Hall in Newton-by-the-Sea last Thursday in front of friends and family with Jade's daughter Cali as a flower girl, with the cake proving very popular amongst the guests.
The pork pie came after a three course meal of soup, a beef dinner and a cheesecake for dessert - so there was at least some sweet relief during the day.
And on Saturday, just two days after the wedding, the happy couple flew to Mexico, where they are now enjoying their honeymoon.
Turnbull's butchers, who supplied the cake, said: "When Jade first contacted Turnbull’s back in 2020, we immediately consulted our Master Baker, Phil, who has been head-baker here for over 20 years. Phil’s initial reaction was: No problem, we can do it – he’s not one to shy away from a challenge!
As far as we can tell this is the second time ever a custom Pork Pie Wedding Cake has been requested from Turnbull’s in our 140 year history! A pie of this size is only for the die-hard Pork Pie Fans!
"The bottom layer, our Traditional Pork, took around 5 hours to cook and weighed just over 8lb. The middle layer, made up of Pork and Chorizo and the top layer of Pork and Black Pudding took a bit less. The cake was then decorated with pastry petals, flowers and topped with ‘Mr & Mrs Patterson’ which had been carved out of wood.
"On behalf of all of the Butchers and Bakers at Turnbull’s, we would like to congratulate Mr and Mrs Patterson on their wedding day. They are both loyal customers and supporters of Turnbull’s and we are delighted to have been able to provide this Pork Pie Wedding Cake for their special day."
