Northern Rail train tickets huge sale includes 50p travel to and from Manchester

Train strikes and issues with interrupted travel have had a major impact on travel during the Christmas period in 2022- now this offer could be a huge breath of fresh air for many. Northern has announced a limited time only mass saving on train tickets as commuters set to plan their 2023 travel- and here's what's on offer.

The flash sale includes five million train tickets for journeys across the North of England, including West Yorkshire, available from as little as 50p. Those wanting to take full advantage of the sale need to act quick though, with the reduced ticket prices only available until 4pm on Friday (13 January) and only valid for travel between Tuesday, 17 January and Friday, 10 March on Northern services only.

Manchester commuters will find a cheaper ticket on the Manchester Picadilly line heading to Barrow-in-Furness- with a whole host of other destinations across the UK.

Other reduced routes include Bradford, Leeds, Chester, Newcastle and Harrogate- travellers can also see other ticket prices here, where cheaper alternatives and different ticket types are also available.

Northern’s new timetable came into effect in December 2022 and all customers, especially those who have made regular journeys on specific train times, are advised to use the new 'Check My Timetable' feature on Northern’s website to see changes specific to their local station.

Mark Powles, commercial and customer director at Northern, said: “This is our biggest ever Flash Sale – with 50p, £1 and £1.50 fares available across all parts of our network.

“We know our customers travel for a multitude of reasons – so our hope is this sale will make five million of them – be they for days out, weekends away or catch-ups with friends - that bit more affordable.

“Customers should book early to avoid disappointment. Once they’re gone, they’re gone.”

For disrupted lines or those needing a lengthier journey, a handy tip is to also check and make use of planning and splitting your journey prior to booking. This way, those needing a long distance, pricier package can get numerous tickets at a reduced price (especially if booked at least 12 weeks prior to travelling).
