The Northern Lights could be visible from the UK tonight, according to the Met Office.
Forecasters have confirmed that a geomagnetic storm is currently in progress, meaning stargazers in the UK could be treated to the colourful light display if they look up towards the sky tonight.
The Met Office said that people in the north and some central parts of the UK could be in with a chance of catching a glimpse of the aurora. However, cloudy conditions could make it tricky for some.

In a tweet, the weather agency said: "A moderate geomagnetic storm currently in progress means there is a chance of aurora sightings across central and northern parts of the UK tonight. Forecast cloud cover and rain however may limit viewing opportunities."
In Manchester, the forecast suggests some clear patches of sky from around midnight before heavier cloud hits the region from around 2am. Stargazers may have more luck in Cheshire and Derbyshire, where clearer skies are predicted until the early hours of the morning.
The best places to catch the Northern Lights are those where there is little light pollution, meaning you have a much higher chance of seeing them from a rural area than you did from a city centre. The Met Office says: "Ideally, the lights will be best viewed away from any light pollution, in remote areas, facing the northern horizon - north facing coasts produce some of the best viewing locations."
The aurora is most active in March and April and then again in September and October. It can often be spotted on clear nights, but cloudy conditions have left stargazers disappointed on recent occasions.
At the end of February, hopeful Mancunians struggled to spot the Northern Lights, although some said they could see the colours through breaks in the cloud.
However, one lucky group got to see the display as they flew home from Iceland to Manchester Airport. One couple on board the flight, who were celebrating their engagement, were delighted to see the lights after failing to catch them during their romantic stay in Reykjavik.
