KYLE LAFFERTY has been withdrawn from the Northern Ireland national team squad amid an investigation into an alleged sectarian slur.
The striker, 35, is under investigation by Kilmarnock after a video circulating online appeared to show him allegedly using sectarian language.
The Ayrshire side say they are aware of the clip and are looking into the accusations.
It was revealed this morning that, as a result of the investigation, Lafferty would be taken out of Ian Baraclough's national team squad.
Now, it has been confirmed by the Irish FA.
A statement form the IFA said: "Northern Ireland senior men’s team player Kyle Lafferty has been withdrawn from the squad ahead of the upcoming UEFA Nations League games against Kosovo and Greece.
"The Irish Football Association is aware of a social media video which has been circulated widely. The association also notes an investigation has been launched into the video by the striker’s club, Kilmarnock FC.
"A minor back problem has prevented Lafferty from participating in training since Tuesday."
Lafferty is under contract at Kilmarnock until May 2023.
