Northcoders to open software training hub in Birmingham

A new training hub aimed at addressing the skills gap in the computer software and coding industry is to open in Birmingham city centre.

Manchester-based firm Northcoders is behind the project which will deliver a range of boot camp courses.

The new facility is due to launch on May 3 from the new Spaces co-working facility at the Mailbox office and shopping complex from where it will run both virtual and in-person training.

Northcoders said the launch of the new hub was as a result of the recent increase in demand for technology training and upskilling in the Midlands region.

Founded in 2015 and floated on AIM last year, the company provides coding and software development training to companies and individuals across the UK from sites in Manchester, Leeds and Newcastle and is also a registered provider of government-backed apprenticeships.

Founder and chief executive Chris Hill said: "Birmingham and the wider Midlands region has a strong tech scene so this was the next natural step in our growth following the opening of our sites in Manchester, Leeds and Newcastle.

"The demand for digital skills and upskilling is only going to increase over the next few years so the focus for us will be on ensuring that our Birmingham hub delivers the education and technology training that will help businesses, individuals and the region's economy to thrive."
