North Shields bottomless brunch goes wrong as waiters pull stuck woman out of sofa by her ankles

A birthday celebration went from bottomless brunch to 'bottoms up' after a partygoer got stuck head first behind a sofa with her legs in the air.

On Easter Sunday Julie Jackson, 47, was celebrating her birthday with a Prosecco-fuelled meal at the TwelveTwentyFive restaurant in North Shields when her friend Lindsay Clark got wedged, upside down, behind the seating.

The 40-year-old had been attempting to retrieve her friend's jacket that had fallen behind the furniture when she lost her footing and ended up trapped. Lindsay was then caught on camera with her legs flailing in the air while two young employees tugged on her ankles and shins in a bid to set her free.

Support worker Julie, from Newcastle, said: "We were out celebrating my birthday. We were drinking all sorts but a lot of Prosecco. My other friend's jacket fell behind the sofa so Lindsay reached down to get it and fell behind the sofa.

"She was stuck for about ten minutes in total. The staff were all lovely, they could have been funny about it but they were
really nice. It's not a birthday I'll forget."

The video sparked hilarity on Facebook when Julie shared it, quickly racking up over 2,000 likes. Luckily, her pal also sees the funny side.

She said: "I didn't expect to get that reaction. Lindsay finds it hilarious, it's just a bit of a laugh. She's always wanted to be famous, although I don't think this is how she expected it to happen. "

Lindsay said: "I reached down to get my friend's jacket and it slid further towards the floor and I went with it until I was wedged in the hole.

"I had to get the two employees to pull me out. I couldn't push myself out because of the position I was in. I probably would have been okay if I was a bit skinnier but I got stuck.

"Of course my friends were there to film it. The bar have shared it on their Facebook page so they can't have thought it was that bad.

"I have bruises where I was stuck and scratches on my legs as the back of the sofa was made with wood. It was mortifying but it didn't ruin my night, everyone knows that's what I'm like anyway."
