North Macedonia president reveals Avram Glazer chat about Cristiano Ronaldo and Manchester United future

The president of North Macedonia has revealed that he has spoken to Manchester United co-chairman Avram Glazer about the future of the club and Cristiano Ronaldo.

President Stevo Pendarovski took to social media this week to post a picture of himself standing alongside Glazer at the World Economic Forum in Geneva.

Pendarovski added a caption which revealed he took the chance to speak with the United chief about the future of Ronaldo at the club and about their planned summer spending under Erik ten Hag.

"With the owner of @ManUtd Avram Glazer, we talked about Macedonian football and the quality of our players," the North Macedonia president tweeted.

"We also talked about @Cristiano, undoubtedly one of the best. I had the honor to hear first hand about his future status and the latest reinforcements at the club ;)"

Earlier in the week, United co-owner Glazer seemingly confirmed that new manager Ten Hag would be backed in the transfer market this summer.

When asked by Sky Sports if the club will be able to invest this summer, he said: "We've always spent the money necessary to buy new players."

United finished the season in sixth place with just 58 points, their lowest-ever tally in the Premier League era, and a goal difference of zero. When pressed, Glazer admitted it has been an underwhelming campaign but is confident Ten Hag will turn things around.

When asked if he was disappointed with the season, Glazer initially replied: "I don’t think this is the time to talk about that." However, when it was pointed out that fans certainly are disappointed, he added: "It is a disappointing season, a disappointing season for everyone, and we’re going to work next season to make sure it’s a better season."

Glazer was then asked if Ten Hag was the man to achieve that, to which he responded: "That’s why we hired him. He'll do a great job."
