North Lanarkshire listed on new survey revealing UK's mobile phone buying habits

North Lanarkshire has been listed as one of the areas with the highest amount of mobile phones in the UK.

Looking further into the mobile shopping habits across the country, mobile phone retailer Fonehouse has analysed sales data to reveal that people in the region are buying the ninth highest amount of mobile phones in the UK.

The study analysed two years of the retailer’s mobile phone sales data to find the number of phones purchased in each UK local authority during this period, in relation to the population of the area to find out where was buying the most new phones.

North Lanarkshire residents purchased the ninth highest amount of new phones in comparison to the number of people who live in the area, ranking 43 per cent above the UK average.

Taking the top spot is Burnley, with residents purchasing the most new phones in comparison to the number of people who live in the area. Coming in second is Blackpool, followed by Salford in third.

On the other end of the scale, the area which takes the bottom spot is the Isles of Scilly, with residents purchasing the least new phones in comparison to the number of people who live in the area.

The Shetland Islands come in second, followed by the Orkney Islands in third.

Ben Branson, CEO of Fonehouse said: “Mobile phones play a massive part in our day-to-day lives, they’re not just a form of communication, they also take the place of your camera, keep you informed and entertained as well as being a portable wallet.

“Buying the perfect new phone can be a tricky task, with lots of handsets and contracts to choose from. Ensuring that you do your research on the best deals available, you should be able to choose a handset that is suited to your needs that you will use and enjoy for many years.”
