North Lanarkshire councillor highlights high number of potholes in Motherwell

A North Lanarkshire councillor has expressed concerns over the condition of the roads infrastructure in an area of Motherwell.

After visiting streets in North Lodge, Nathan Wilson found that particular sections of many roads are in a poor state of repair and require urgent attention.

The Scottish Conservative councillor, who represents Motherwell South East and Ravenscraig, contacted the local authority's roads officials and urged them to bring the roads back up to an acceptable standard.

In his representation to the council, Councillor Wilson highlighted a large number of roads where the surface is sub-optimal, including the final part of Catherine Street, from it’s junction with Leven Street, and the road leading both to John Murray Court and the entrance route to the Baron’s Haugh visitors' car park.

Councillor Wilson also cited the last part of the road at Adele Street from it’s junction with Emily Drive to North Lodge Avenue, where rows of potholes are present.

He said: “Far too many roads in Motherwell, whether that be in locations such as Muirhouse or North Lodge, have fallen into disrepair and this needs to be addressed.

“I am appalled at the state of many parts of the road network in North Lodge and it is clear work should take place on restoring the surfaces to an acceptable standard.

“The bottom of Adele Street is in a very bad condition with rows of potholes grouped together on one side of the road and this really should have been picked up and acted upon by now.

“Resurfacing work in the new financial year is something that does need to happen and this would at least allow a start to be made on restoring the local roads infrastructure.”
