North Lanarkshire Council have announced a major refurbishment at Wishaw Sports Centre.
The gym at the sports centre will be closed for around a month to allow for the work to be carried out.
Work is set to start early next month with a statement on the ActiveNL website confirming the plans.
The statement reads: “We are delighted to announce that Wishaw Sports Centre will be undergoing a gym refurbishment in the coming weeks where we will be upgrading a number of elements within this area to improve the member experience.
“This refurbishment will be an entire redesign of the gym space with new functional and free weight equipment and will also include brand new flooring and a new lighting design.
“The gym will close on Monday, May 8, for around four weeks to allow this extensive refurbishment to take place.
“Please note that all other areas of the venue including our fitness studios, power studio, main hall and swimming pool will remain open and unaffected during this period. All fitness classes will continue to run as normal with the exception of gym fit classes.
“The closest alternative gym facilities can be found at Ravenscraig or the Aquatec in Motherwell or Shotts Leisure Centre.
“During this time members are welcome to use any of the other gym facilities across North Lanarkshire while this upgrade takes place.
“We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause in the short term however we are sure everyone will enjoy the new upgraded facilities following the work.”
