A suspected North Korean ballistic missile appears to have failed immediately after its launch, reported South Korea's military.
It comes as an NHK Japanese defence source said that an object had been fired this morning but it had not been officially confirmed.
The attempted launch of the missile would be the 10th this year and comes shortly after the South's presidential election.
