South Korea's military has reported that North Korea has launched a series of cruise missiles off its east coast. These missiles reportedly flew over the waters close to a significant North Korean military shipyard. The recent missile launch has raised concerns among regional actors, adding to the already heightened tensions in the Korean Peninsula.
According to South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff, the missiles were fired in the early morning hours from a launch site located in the eastern province of Hamgyong. They traveled approximately 150 miles before splashing down in the waters of the Sea of Japan, also known as the East Sea. It is worth noting that this area is in close proximity to the Cholsan shipyard, a vital military facility for North Korea.
