California Attorney General Rob Bonta has conditionally approved the sale of St. Elizabeth Care Center, a 52-bed nursing home in North Hollywood, from nonprofit Providence to affiliates of The Ensign Group. The attorney general's office announced the decision on Oct. 2, 2026, with conditions lasting seven to 10 years.
The facility has served North Hollywood since 1964, and Medi-Cal and Medicare beneficiaries make up a significant share of its residents. Ensign, a publicly traded for-profit company, has operated the home since June 1, 2025, after receiving approval from the California Department of Public Health. The sale is part of a broader Ensign acquisition of Providence facilities in Alaska, Oregon, and Washington.
