North East weather: Yellow warning for fog and hour-by-hour forecast for Wednesday and Thursday

The North East is in for more changeable February weather in the coming days as the Met Office released a yellow weather warning for fog. But that will clear early on with a mix of sunny spells and rain on the way.

According to the Met Office, some patchy mist, fog and frost will develop tonight and into the early hours of Wednesday before giving way to bright spells.

The experts say there will be areas of dense fog which could cause some challenging travel conditions through Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning. If travelling on roads and rail expect slower journey times with delays to bus and train services possible.

Towards midday the region will become more cloudy and breezy alongside some outbreaks of rain, with clearer conditions emerging in the late afternoon before more rain sets in overnight.

Thursday is forecast to be cloudy and dull, with more rain on the way which is set to continue with strong winds into Friday morning before some brighter conditions later on, while early indications for the weekend suggest a dull, wet and breezy Saturday.
