North East weather: Met Office forecasts spring-like sunshine for Thursday and Friday

The North East is in for some sunny spells to end the week as the weather looks increasingly spring-like for the last full week of February.

According to the latest forecast from the Met Office, Thursday will get off to a frosty start with temperatures down to freezing - but the day will be full of plenty of sunshine with highs of 8°C, feeling breezier towards the coast. Cloud and rain are due to set in by Friday morning, but will soon clear to give way to sunny spells with a few light showers which will continue into the weekend.

In Newcastle, clear skies are forecast for the majority of the day on Thursday, while Friday is also forecast to be partly sunny all day after some morning showers. Here's what the hour-by-hour forecast looks like for the next couple of days.
