The chilly winter weather in the North East is set to persist in the coming days, but sunshine is on the cards after snowfall started off the week.
The Met Office has forecast a very cold week ahead for the region, with temperatures dropping below freezing tonight to as low as -6°C and a sharp frost expected as well as a risk of icy patches. The chilly conditions will continue into Tuesday, which is expected to remain dry and sunny, before more blustery wintry showers are forecast to arrive along the coast from Wednesday to Friday.
Tuesday in Newcastle will see highs of just 1°C, though it will feel closer to -4°C with clear skies overhead. Here's what you can expect from the weather over the next couple of days.
