The North East will see clear and dry conditions in the coming days as this week continues to be much milder than last with no sign of sub-zero temperatures.
The Met Office forecasts sunny spells in the final week before Christmas, with Tuesday and Wednesday set to be bright but blustery with highs of 8°C. But with the big day just around the corner, there might just be a White Christmas on the cards as wintry conditions are once again predicted for the region at the weekend.
In Newcastle, the sun will be out for most of the day on both Tuesday and Wednesday - but December 21 marks the shortest day as the Winter Solstice takes place, with the sun rising at 8.29am and setting at 3.40pm. Here's an hourly breakdown of what the next couple of days will look like.
