The North East continues to see sunny spells mixed with cloud and smatterings of rain as the end of the week is set to bring more changeable February weather.
According to the Met Office, cloud will thicken later tonight with a band of rain affecting most of the region before midnight. But the skies will quickly clear by the early hours, with a sharp frost developing in some areas as temperatures plummet to as low as -4°C.
Thursday is forecast to get off to a fine and sunny start, before cloud sets in once again later on with the odd spot of light rain over the hills. While temperatures will hit highs of 8°C, in Newcastle this peak will feel more like a chillier 3°C.
