With just two weeks to go until Christmas, there's no question that winter is well and truly underway with more ice-cold weather in store for the North East this weekend.
The Met Office forecasts freezing fog patches to start off Saturday, but the region is set to be mostly dry with some winter sun managing to poke through. Looking ahead to Sunday, more sun will follow a "very cold" night with widespread frosts in many areas, though there may be some wintry showers along the coast.
