The weather is looking summery in the North East over the next couple of days as we're treated to some warm sunshine heading into the weekend - but May continues to be changeable, with the clear skies not set to last.
According to the latest forecast from the Met Office, cloud will thicken overnight as a band of rain moves across the region, but this will clear throughout Friday morning and sunny spells will follow. Temperatures will hit highs of 16°C, although as we head into Friday night there is a risk of fog patches developing in clear periods.
Saturday is set to be dry and cloudy with occasional sunny spells, and the early forecast suggests that Sunday will be similar, perhaps with some light rain further North, before cloud and afternoon showers arrive on Monday.
